Mediation is not advised as a response to severe domestic violence due to the safety risks it poses to the survivor. WPC protocols clearly state that mediation must not be pursued if a survivor has registered an FIR for a compoundable offense. We strictly evaluate cases before suggesting or permitting mediation.
When mediation is requested and deemed safe, WPC staff assigns a neutral third-party mediator. We send official notices to the opposite parties and carefully schedule meetings ensuring the survivor's presence is heavily protected. The mediator facilitates communication to uncover the problem's root causes without forcing an arbitrary resolution.
Should the parties amicably reconcile their differences through mediation, our staff drafts a formal Settlement Deed outlining all terms agreed upon (such as future maintenance or behavior guarantees). All parties are provided copies of the settlement to formalize the resolution, and the WPC schedules follow-ups to ensure the deed is being honored.
